New England Aster, Symphyotrichum novae-angliae

New England Aster is a great fall pollinator plant and helps to relieve coughs, allergies and asthma. From Northeast Medicinal Plants by Liz Neves, "Combine New England aster flowers with goldenrod in tincture or tea for respiratory infections that feature a drippy nose. To the flower infusion, add plantain leaves for their demulcent, moistening quality for dry coughs. Make a steam of New England aster flower to help clear sinuses." Make an infusion of the leaf and flowers to relieve gas and bloating.
