Barn Rental

Welcome to the Red Barn at Sawmill Herb Farm, nestled within the larger Brook’s Bend Farm in Montague. We spent over a year renovating this mid 1800s timber frame barn into a beautiful and dynamic four season space. The barn is situated on a working farm among a vibrant community of plants, animals and people including the Sawmill herb gardens and a network of trails through the woods. 

This is a shared community resource and invite you to join us - whether it's renting the space for an event, a class, for yourself and clients or for co-working. You can read more about the space and offerings below. The barn has been host to dinners, ceremonies, massages, yoga, meetings, overnight stays, workshops, trainings, working with clients, co-working and more.

There are three distinct spaces - each available for rent (with an option to use multiple spaces): 

The spaces:

  • 1st floor indoor workshop space
    • 3 stainless steel tables 
    • Use of wooden benches and folding chairs for seating
  • 2nd floor
    • 2 couches that open to comfortable futon mattresses
    • Wide open space with rug
    • Folding chairs 
    • Several low floor seats (back jacks)
    • Porch
  • Back Porch
    • Overlooks the herb gardens
    • Open sided covered space
    • benches and folding chairs
  • All spaces have (shared) use of:
    • The apothecary kitchen double bay sink for washing and potable well water
    • bathroom with sink, composting toilet and shower

Accessibility:

All spaces require walking up several steps to enter, and a flight of stairs for the 2nd floor. 

Agreements & Guidelines: 

  • Must rent for the full time that it will be used from set up to cleanup, rounded up to the next hour. (Rent in full hour increments) Note - if you are consistently needing a 1.5 hr slot let’s discuss
  • 48 hrs cancellation notice, otherwise please pay in full for the time 
  • Please clean up the space after use (sweep, wipe down counters etc)
  • No candles, animals, or peanuts in the space
  • No food or outdoor shoes upstairs
  • The second floor is intended to be used as a clean space (no messy projects)
  • If you are holding an event you may need to have your own liability insurance
  • There is plenty of parking: in front of the barns and in the overflow parking lot in front of the woodshop
  • Entry for the porch and 2nd floor is through the backdoor
  • Entry for the 1st floor is through the front, back or side doors
  • There may be other events simultaneously in the other spaces 
  • The bathroom and kitchen are shared spaces unless a different agreement is arranged

How to schedule:

Book your time using this page. You will need to book each hour that you will be using the space (the booking page only allows for booking one hour at a time, so you just need to click on each hour that you’d like) Please make sure to add in the description which space you will be renting

Payment:

Must be paid by the beginning of the rental period. For weekly renters, you may pay in advance for the month. Please keep track of what you owe to help us reduce the admin overhead. We prefer cash and check, email us to receive our venmo/zelle info.
